University of Sydney Equipment Grant - $200,000

The award of this major equipment grant will result in the purchase of the CRAM, a microscope capable of simultaneously measuring the surface topography and physical properties (such as elasticity and hardness) of a material/biological sample while obtaining 3-D structural information. Most importantly and unique to this facility, the CRAM also simultaneously measures Raman spectra of the sample, allowing the researcher to track chemical processes such as cell signaling, drug-protein interaction and material transformations without the need for labeling.
